In this study, we examined the effect of Akebia quinata extract on the growth ability
of Capnocytophaga species in vitro. The obtained results were as follows.
1. Akebia quinata extract had minimal inhibitory concentrations of 50-200§¶/§¢ against
C. ochracea ATCC 27872, C. sputigena ATCC 33612, C. gingivalis ATCC and C.
grunulosa ATCC 51502 strains. But 6.25§¶/§¢ of Akebia quinata extract required to C.
haemolytica ATCC 51501 strain.
2. The growth of C. ochracea ATCC 27872, C. gingivalis ATCC 33624 and C.
granulosa ATCC 51502 strains were inhibited with dosage-dependent patterns. In C.
sputigena ATCC 33612 strain, there are no detectable growth inhibition. But, C.
haemolytica ATCC 51501 strain was inhibited 41% with 10§¶/§¢ of Akebia quinata
extract concentration and 82% with 50§¶/§¢ respectively. And it was completely inhibited
with 100§¶/§¢ of Akebia quinata extract concentration.
